Course Keeper, keep your boat under control when going slow.
It is a known problem that boats fitted with an outboard or sterndrive inboard are difficult to steer at slow speed.
This is due to the fact that there is not enough thrust available at that time and in the absence of a rudder the boat easily drifts off course and needs constant correction. An annoying feature, especially since limited speeds are being prescribed on more and more waterways.
With the Course-Keeper you have a double rudder at your disposal that helps you maneuver in the harbor and keeps your boat on course mandatory low sailing speed.
A sterndrive does not have a fixed rudder because the lateral pressure on the sterndrive would become too great when cornering.
The rudder blades of the Course-Keeper have 2 bent lips that ensure that with increasing speed the double rudder is lifted out of the water so that there is no oversteer effect and lateral forces are avoided when cornering. When the speed is reduced, 2 torsion springs ensure that the double rudder sinks back into the water and performs its rudder function again.
The rudder blades are made of seawater-resistant aluminum plate and the brackets that hold the Course-Keeper on the cavitation plate are made of an aluminum extrusion profile specially developed for this product. The brackets have an 8 mm groove and are slid over the cavitation plate, after which the whole is clamped against the top and bottom of the cavitation plate using M8 set screws. So there is no need to drill into the cavitation plate!
The aluminum blades and brackets are powder coated and the other parts are all made of stainless steel quality A2.
