Starter motor for MerCruiser 3.7 liter engines.
Picture 3 is the starter motor you will receive, replacement for picture 2.

The R terminal/ connection is for Relay. Switched connection, gives 12 volts on R, at the start moment. So don't use ground.
Sit on plus at ignition coil. Provides power at the start moment.
The mounting of the starter motor could not be done with the original bolts.
Two threaded rods made of longer 1/2 thumb bolts. 12.7 mm.
Screw in, install starter motor, after cleaning up holes.
2 nuts 1/2 inch. Special angle wrench made to tighten inner nut.
